Reconstruction of the cartlidge under the ear lobe will successfully repair any torn earlobes. In some cases the ear lobe can be enlarged, elongated or completely ripped through so that wearing earrings can become difficult or impossible. With this cosmetic procedure patients will have the opportunity to be able to restore their ear lobes and experience the ease and beauty of wearing earrings.

Before the procedure begins a local anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment area in order to numb any discomfort associated with the procedure. The skin covering the slot between the ear lobes will be removed and the raw edges are brought directly together using a combination of structures in the skin and skin sutures (which will be removed after surgery). The two wedges of the skin will be fitted together and stitched. This will allow the cartlidge under the ear lobe to be repaired and restored allowing for full healed earlobes.

The procedure is exremly beneficial because it is fairly quick and will allow the ear lobes to heal quickly with minimal scarring. Patients will also be able to get their ears re-pierced within a couple months of the procedure which will give them the leisure of wearing beautiful earrings.

Patients can expect to have the sutures removed from their ears within 2 weeks of the procedure. Patients can also expect to have a thin layer of antibiotic ointment applied as well as a thin layer of dressing. Patients may also experience swelling and some discomfort after the procedure, however, this can be treated with pain medication. Patients may also have some scarring on the treatment area which will heal with time.
