Jowls

Jowls occur when the skin on the lower face and neck begins to thin and sag. As an individual begins to age the skin will become thinner and less radiant and will begin to loose the elastic tissue and collagen in the skin. Gravity will then cause the skin to sag downwards on the face towards the chin and neck. Jowls can also be caused by a reduction in muscle mass, sun exposure, smoking, genetics and diet.
